What do you do with a fabulous cul de sac lot in North Haverford, the heart of the Main Line, when the house does not meet contemporary needs?
What was desired was exemplary detailing in a classic Main Line stone colonial with a transitional vocabulary.
Using parts of the current house had advantages including building off the low tax basis and saving a magnificent tree, so we developed a LEED inspired plan that addressed program deficiencies, modernized from the studs up, beautified the property, and incorporated modern technology for comfort, convenience, and cost.
The result was a SARA Silver Medal for design in a blind juried competition.
